Galatians 6:7-9 “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”
There are three great principles in these closing comments by the Apostle Paul to the Galatians.
1. You Reap What You Sow. This principle is irreversible. It’s a principle of agriculture, a principle of giving, a principle in relationships, and a principle in just about every realm you can think of. Have you ever heard the phrase, “They had it coming to them?” It’s a current way to communicate an age-old principle. I’ve seen parents have trouble with their teenagers and know that when the parent was a teen, they gave their parents a fit. It’s coming back. But this principle works in the positive realm. When you sow good things, guess what?
2. Let Us Not Grow Weary By Doing Good. I’ve seen this one in action many times. People grow tired and weary of doing good, mainly working for the kingdom of God. And that’s point number one of how to avoid growing weary: realize Whom you’re working for. When you are working for man you will grow fatigued. When you are working for God there is a sense of fulfillment and accomplishment that can be energizing. You must also remain prayerful. Many a good person becomes worn because they did not maintain their personal devotional life, especially in the area of prayer.
3. In Due Season We Shall Reap If We Do Not Lose Heart. We must constantly remember that payday is coming. How many people quit just a bit too soon? They throw in the towel just before the finish line. The NIV renders this part of the verse as follows: “…for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” No matter what DO NOT GIVE UP!
