Isaiah 30:13 – “This sin will become for you like a high wall, cracked and bulging, that collapses suddenly, in an instant.” (NIV)
Sin is like cracks in high walls. They are not readily visible because of its height and not being at eye level. Left unattended they will compromise the integrity of the structure and can be catastrophic. Our text says that the wall “collapses suddenly, in an instant.”
How many times have we observed someone, maybe someone high profile, whose life imploded in an instant? It doesn’t happen overnight. It is the result of cracks in high walls that have been neglected over a period of time.
The wall represents the life you and I are trying to build. Pay attention to the cracks that appear over time. They are minimal in the beginning and that’s when they need attention. Don’t wait until the crack in your life becomes too big to deal with. It’s a disaster waiting to happen. Correct it now so that your life doesn’t become a pile of rubble that hurts those closest to you and requires to clean up.
