November 16 – Be Blessed!

Psalm 115:12-15The Lord has been mindful of us; He will bless us; He will bless the house of Israel; He will bless the house of Aaron. 13 He will bless those who fear the Lord, both small and great. 14 May the Lord give you increase more and more, you and your children. 15 May you be blessed by the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

Today’s psalm is a pronouncement of blessing upon His people. He will bless the house of Israel, the house of Aaron, and those who fear the Lord. The word fear in this verse means “to be reverent.” Reverence means to have deep respect and awe. God’s blessing is upon those who have deep respect and awe for Him. In a day when respect is an uncommon virtue, may the people of God exhibit that and more toward Him who is deserving of such praise.

One of the responsibilities of Old Testament leaders was to pronounce blessings upon the people (Deuteronomy 10:8; Deuteronomy 21:5; 1Chronicles 23:13). I am not sure whether or not you have someone pronouncing blessings upon you but all of us need good words spoken over us. So let me speak blessing over your life today according to verses 14 and 15: “May the Lord give you increase more and more, you and your children. 15 May you be blessed by the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” If you agree with that, click on the “like” button at the bottom of this devotional and may God increase you and your children…more and more. The word “children” in the Hebrew does not just refer to those you have given birth to, but it also includes generations to come! And may you be blessed. Not just experience blessing…but be blessed. Speak blessings over others as well. Send this devotional to someone and let him or her know this is your desire for them. Let’s spread blessing all around. There is enough negative in this world. You just might make someone’s day a little brighter. Hopefully yours just got better.
