May 5th – Reapers

John 4:34-36 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. 35 Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! 36 And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.

Today’s One Year Bible reading in the New Testament is one of the greatest stories of transformation in scripture. It’s commonly called “The Woman At The Well.” It is a fascinating account of the tremendous grace and mercy of God, which should be an encouragement to all of us.

The above text is a part of a conversation that Jesus has with His disciples after His encounter with the woman. There are three important principles Jesus gives them which are noteworthy for us today:

1. What matters most is God’s will and accomplishing His purpose. There is nothing more important than this in your life. What are you doing today to fulfill your purpose? There are so many thing to distract us from the “main thing.” Whatever you do, don’t miss God’s purpose for your life today.

2.The harvest is now. The hearts of people are open to the gospel. Every week I hear testimonies of people who were receptive to the message of Jesus. Someone around you is ready to receive Christ. Don’t put it off until next month. Jesus said the harvest is now. Lift up your eyes…in other words, be observant. The field is full of people who are ready.

3.Reapers are the ones being blessed now. If you want to be blessed by God, become a reaper for the Kingdom. It’s the one who reaps who receives wages. God’s blessing is upon the reapers. Become one today!
