Judges 18:28 – “There was no one to rescue them because they lived a long way from Sidon and had no relationship with anyone else…”
Today’s One Year Bible reading in the Old Testament involves the tribe of Dan, who is yet to settle in their territory. They have found a people in the town of Laish who are unsuspecting and dwelling in safety. The men of Dan know they are vulnerable and it will probably be an easy task to overthrow the city and become settled in the land. Our verse is very telling. The people of Laish were susceptible to attack and defeat because they were isolated and “had no relationship with anyone else.”
This is a position you cannot afford to be in. Do not allow the enemy to isolate you from other people. God has created us for relationship. First and foremost with Him and secondly, with other people. When you choose to retreat and turn inward, you are positioning yourself for spiritual attack. The enemy feeds on isolated people. Over and over in scripture we see the principles that espouse the strength of two or more.
It is important to get connected to other people. And not just anyone. You must connect to the right people. There you will find strength and you will find security. Find a Bible Study, a prayer group, a fellowship group, and take the initiative to get plugged in. It can be a spiritual strategy you use to defeat the enemy of your soul!
