May 18th – Blessing

Psalm 115:9-15 – “O Israel, trust in the Lord; He is their help and their shield. O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord; He is their help and their shield. You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord; He is their help and their shield. The Lord has been mindful of us; He will bless us; He will bless the house of Israel; He will bless the house of Aaron. He will bless those who fear the Lord, Both small and great. May the Lord give you increase more and more, You and your children. May you be blessed by the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.”

There are three individual themes running simultaneously through this passage of scripture. First, there is a call to Israel, the house of Aaron, and to those who fear the Lord to trust in the Lord. Second, there is a proclamation to those same categories of individuals that God will be their help and their shield. Third, there is a four-fold proclamation of blessing to us, to the house of Israel, the house of Aaron, and those who fear the Lord.

There appears to be connection between the three. In other words, if we will trust in the Lord then He will be our help and our shield and we will also be recipients of His blessings.

Dear friend, trust in the a Lord today. Whatever your need and whatever you’re facing, place your trust in the Lord. He will be your defender. You will also experience the blessing of the Lord. I want to echo over your life today the psalmist’s blessing: “May the Lord give you increase more and more, You and your children. May you be blessed by the Lord, Who made heaven and earth!” Or, as it would read in Hebrew: “The Lord will increase you more and more, you and your children. You are blessed of the Lord who made heaven and earth.” BE BLESSED!
