Leviticus 25:20-22 – “And if you say, ‘What shall we eat in the seventh year, since we shall not sow nor gather in our produce?’ 21Then I will command My blessing on you in the sixth year, and it will bring forth produce enough for three years. 22And you shall sow in the eighth year, and eat old produce until the ninth year; until its produce comes in, you shall eat of the old harvest.”
The people of Israel are given instruction by the Lord concerning sowing in the land and reaping a harvest. God tells them to give the land rest every seven years and not sow anything. That doesn’t make much sense especially if your meal is dependent upon sowing and reaping. God assures them that if they will do what He says, He will command His blessing to come upon the land in the sixth year. Then they will eat of God’s blessing for three straight years, even while they are still sowing and reaping beginning in the eighth year! You can see how God’s blessings would compound every seven years!
God says in Isaiah 55:9, “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” His mind is superior and His ways cannot be exhausted. If we will simply do things God’s way, He will command His blessing to come upon our lives. Some times it will make sense. At other times we will be tempted to question and reason in our own finite minds how what we are thinking of doing makes any sense at all. Trust. When God commands His blessing nothing makes any sense, but it sure turns out incredible!
