Psalm 62:7,8 – “In God is my salvation and my glory;
The rock of my strength,
And my refuge, is in God.
8 Trust in Him at all times, you people;
Pour out your heart before Him;
God is a refuge for us.”
Selah
There are four descriptions of God that we need to embrace as David did.
1. God is my salvation. Salvation literally means liberty, deliverance, and prosperity in this particular verse. God is our life source for freedom and blessing. They flow from Him to those in relationship to Him. Doesn’t get much better than that.
2. God is my glory. He clothes me in His presence. He is my garment and my covering. I can walk in this world spiritually robed in the Spirit.
3. God is the Rock of my strength. Isaiah 40:31 tells us that if we wait upon the Lord our strength will be renewed. He is the Centerpiece and Foundation of not only our strength, but also of our lives!
4. God is my refuge. The word refuge means shelter. The NLT says, “He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me.” Is it possible to reach a place where the enemy cannot get to you? What do you think?
