February 22nd – Time To Move On

TIME TO MOVE ON

Mark 6:2-6 “And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing Him were astonished, saying, “Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, that such mighty works are performed by His hands! 3Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” So they were offended at Him. 4But Jesus said to them, ‘A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.’ 5Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. 6And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.”

The miracle power of Jesus was limited based upon the ability of the people to receive Him.  The people of His own town could not get past the fact that they knew Him and knew His family all too well.  Their familiarity with Him caused them to not believe in Him.  He marveled at that and moved on to other places.

Some times you just have to move on.  Recognize it for what it is.  People will not honor you if they’ve known you before your transformation, calling, and ministry.  If they do you are among a rare breed of people.  But for the most part honor will be missing and your leadership will be minimized and not maximized.  It’s time to move on.  Don’t let this difficult step hinder you from making a tough decision about what you need to do.  Quit trying to beat your head against the wall.  People in Jesus’ hometown missed out on heaven’s power because the climate wouldn’t accept it.  Who is missing out because you’re in the wrong place?  Get moving!
