Mark 5:25-29 “Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years, 26and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. 27When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. 28For she said, ‘If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.’ 29Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction.”
Jairus, a ruler of the synagogue, had just requested Jesus to come and pray for his daughter who was dying. By the time Jesus arrives the daughter is dead. However, Jesus raises her from the dead in verses 41 and 42.
The miracle in our passage happens while Jesus is on the way to Jairus’ house. There are three powerful truths we can learn from the woman with the issue of blood.
First, what was meant for others can be yours too. Jesus was on his way to pray for a twelve-year-old girl to be raised from the dead. This woman received the “spillover” of someone else’s blessing.
Second, maintain a positive attitude. She was broke and her health was deteriorating. Verse 26 says that she had suffered many things. Yet she maintained a positive attitude through it all and in verse 28 said to herself, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.” Make sure you’re saying the right things to yourself.
Third, the touch of faith stands out above everything else. Jesus asked His disciples, “Who touched Me?” The disciples marveled at the question because the entire crowd was touching Him. However, her touch was different. The crowd was touching a celebrity…she was touching her Healer.
