Exodus 40:34,35 – “Then the cloud covered the tabernacle of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. 35And Moses was not able to enter the tabernacle of meeting, because the cloud rested above it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.”
I realize that the glory of God rests upon us in the New Covenant. I’m aware that we become the temple for God to dwell in. I’m not some Christian “fad” seeker who has to have God do something more to prove His power and His love. However, when I read passages like this I become so thirsty and hungry for the glory of God to fill our houses of worship that it (the glory) is literally manifested by an incapability of flesh to promote itself and God becomes our all-consuming passion. I still believe there is room for such an experience in the days we are living in. What I’m not so sure of is our capability to pay the price, which precedes such a move of God.
In today’s Old Testament devotional, which covers chapters 39 and 40 of Exodus, the phrase “as the Lord commanded Moses” or an extremely close rendition appears 18 times! The phrase is used repeatedly before the glory of the Lord fills the tabernacle. My point is that for us to experience such an incredible manifestation of God’s presence I believe we are going to have to have an incredible level of obedience take place in all things in our lives. Moses was meticulous when it came to obeying God. I think sometimes we are less than diligent in our obedience and as such, we forfeit a move of God on the level that I’m suggesting. I do believe it’s possible. I do believe God would visit us in such a manner. I do believe we can obey. After all we have the blood of the Lamb, the Word of God, and the power of the Holy Spirit to assist us. Let’s be persistent for a move of God in our day that will sweep countless multitudes into the kingdom! O God, come and visit the earth!
