December 5 – A Gateway Of Hope

Hosea 2:15,16 –I will give her her vineyards from there, And the Valley of Achor as a door of hope;
She shall sing there,
As in the days of her youth,
As in the day when she came up from the land of Egypt. ‘And it shall be, in that day,’
Says the Lord,
‘That you will call Me ‘My Husband,’ And no longer call Me ‘My Master,’’”

I’ve always been amazed at the reading of the prophets, both minor and major. While they are used many times to announce God’s judgment, there are numerous declarations of God’s promises and His desire to bless His people and His plans to ultimately do so. Today’s Old Testament One Year Bible reading begins the book of Hosea. Hosea is instructed to marry a prostitute to illustrate Israel’s unfaithfulness even though God is still faithful. The “there” in verse 15 is called the wilderness in verse 14. God says He will lead His people there to win them back to Himself and to speak tenderly to them. Sometimes God will lead you into the wilderness away from all the distractions so that you can focus on Him entirely and rekindle your relationship with Him. Have you been there?

He then declares that He will transform the Valley of Achor (Achor means “trouble”) into a gateway of hope. That place of trouble is about to become a place of hope. God will transform it. God will change it. He goes on to say that His people will sing there. How marvelous is that? Maybe you’ve lost your song in the Valley of Trouble. Start warming up. God is going to
restore your song. Not only that, but your relationship with Him is about to change. Look at verse 16. No longer will you call Him “Master,” instead you will call Him “Husband.” You will experience Him at a more intimate level.

It’s a time of alteration, transformation, and shifting. God’s going to do it. As a matter of fact, just start singing. Your trouble is about to give way to hope.
