Habakkuk 3:17,18 – “Though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines; though the labor of the olive may fail, and the fields yield no food; though the flock may be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls— Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.”
This is an amazing passage of scripture. The prophet Habakkuk lists a series of devastating economic conditions. No fruit, no olive oil, no food and no flocks or herds. In spite of all of this the prophet begins verse 18 with a powerful three letter word—YET. He is determined to not let go of his joy. He refuses to allow his outer circumstances to diminish his inner life.
There will come times in life when things are scarce. You may have little to nothing. You may be struggling with your health. You may have suffered loss and may be enduring a tough economic time. You have two choices: 1) either fold and give up; or 2) somehow forge ahead and hope for better days. For that to happen you need a YET. What is your YET?
