December 13 – The House Of The Lord

Psalm 132:1-5 “Lord, remember David and all his afflictions; 2 how he swore to the Lord, and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob: 3 ‘Surely I will not go into the chamber of my house, or go up to the comfort of my bed; 4 I will not give sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids, 5 until I find a place for the Lord, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.’”

David’s passion was to build a house for the Lord to dwell in. Our passion should be the same today. I’m not talking about a physical edifice; I’m talking about a life that is a temple, a dwelling place for the Lord. Consider the following New Testament scriptures:
Acts 7:48,49 – “However, the Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says: 49 ‘Heaven is My throne, and earth is My footstool. What house will you build for Me? says the Lord, or what is the place of My rest?’”
1 Corinthians 6:19 – “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?”
Let’s think of our lives as a temple for God to dwell in and let’s create an atmosphere for Him to live in. How do we do that? We need to keep the temple clean (holy). We need to make sure our lips are speaking the right things. We need to constantly praise Him. We need to fill our hearts with the word of God. These are a few of the important ways to make your life a house of God.

Today’s psalm gives us a response from God when we make a dwelling place for Him: “I will abundantly bless her provision; I will satisfy her poor with bread. 16 I will also clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.” There is a promise of provision, salvation (deliverance), and joy.

Let us create for Him the dwelling place He longs for; a life that welcomes heaven and nurtures an environment for the holy. May God be with you today and dwell with you always.
