Day 8-Priorities

Matthew 6:33“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” It’s about priorities. The first of the year affords the opportunity to realign ourselves with what’s important in life. Throughout the year things come and go and we can easily get deterred from our goals and the things we set out to do because…well, life happens. And when life happens it can bring a boat load of worries along with it. No wonder Jesus tells us no less than five times in today’s reading to not worry! In essence He tells us that worrying will not change the circumstances. So what should we do instead? Verse 33 gives us the answer. If we will prioritize our relationship with God and His kingdom, HE will take care of all the things we worry about in life. It takes faith to do that. And it also takes discipline to not let your mind and emotions go down self-destructive pathways that can jeopardize your well-being.  So whatever you’ve been worried about, let it go-you can’t change it. Get out of the driver’s seat and focus your attention on His kingdom and spending time with Him in prayer and the One Year Bible. You will receive a peace knowing that He’s in control and you’re not!
