Day 31-Seeing The Unusual

Matthew 21:21,22“So Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done. 22And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.’”

Jesus used the withering of the fig tree to teach His disciples a valuable lesson on prayer’s efficacy.  Jesus wanted them to know that He was not the only One who could see unusual things happen.  If they would combine several ingredients together they too would see the unusual.

“If you have faith and do not doubt…” Seeing the unusual requires faith.  There must be a persuasion and moral conviction about the object(s).  There must also be an absence of doubt.  James 1:6-8 paints a nautical picture of a person who has the faith/doubt Jekyll/Hyde syndrome: “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” Faith/doubt duplicity will never see the unusual.

“…If you say to this mountain…” We must speak to the obstacle that hinders the unusual from appearing.  Here is where many people drop the ball.  They do not address the hindrance.  Saying the positive without speaking to the negative will get you nowhere.  We must address the mountain, be it an attitude, a sin, or a devil.

“And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” PRAYER! PRAYER! PRAYER!  We must ask in prayer, with faith, to see the unusual.  After all, our prayers are directed to the One who made the mountains, let alone can move them.

May God grant you the privilege of seeing the unusual in your life.  With Him all things are possible!
