Deuteronomy 31:3 – “The Lord your God Himself crosses over before you; He will destroy these nations from before you, and you shall dispossess them. Joshua himself crosses over before you, just as the Lord has said.”
Chapter 31 of Deuteronomy opens with Moses declaring that he will not be able to cross the Jordan to accompany Israel to the Promised Land. He assures them that Joshua will lead them. However, a transition in leadership can bring uncertainty and a loss of confidence. Moses encourages them concerning God’s faithfulness. When they cross the Jordan they will need to fight against the enemy in order to possess the Promised Land. He then tells them six things to do or think about when they get there and the enemy is staring them in the face (verse 6).
1. Be strong.
2. Be courageous.
3. Do not fear.
4. God is with you.
5. He will not leave you.
6. He will not forsake you.
We need to remember these six things today. If you are facing opposition, be encouraged in God’s word. Be strong…don’t give up! Be courageous…show resolve that you will not crumble when difficulty has come your way. Do not fear…this is a tactic of the enemy to intimidate you. Don’t back down and don’t give in! God is with you…what a tremendous promise! He will not leave you…another translation says, “He will not fail you.” Failure is not an option for you today. God has a plan for you to succeed. He will not forsake you. You are not alone as you face the enemies of life. He has promised us His presence. Walk in faith and confidence today with the assurance that you are going to be victorious!
