April 28th- Children of The King

Judges 8:18,19“And he said to Zebah and Zalmunna, ‘What kind of men were they whom you killed at Tabor?’ So they answered, ‘As you are, so were they; each one resembled the son of a king.’ 19Then he said, ‘They were my brothers, the sons of my mother. As the Lord lives, if you had let them live, I would not kill you.’”

Gideon is faced with the unbearable news that his brothers have been killed by Zebah and Zalmunna, kings of Midian (v. 5).  Before he knew they were killed, he inquires of Zebah and Zalmunna about them.  The response of the kings says everything to Gideon about their identity, “As you are, so were they; each one resembled the son of a king.”

We are to live in this world in such a way that people will be able to say the same thing about us.  “Each one resembled the son (daughter) of a king.”  Dear friend, are people able to tell whose child we are?  Do we speak and act like the King’s daughter or son?  We need to bear upon us the markings of heavenly royalty.

As you ponder this passage, are you able to list characteristics of a child of God?  Are there certain qualities that all of us should exemplify in our lives that tell others we are children of God?  When people look at you may they say, “You look like the daughter (son) of a king.”
