Luke 16:10-12 “He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much. 11Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? 12And if you have not been faithful in what is another man’s, who will give you what is your own?”
There are three levels of faithfulness that we will be tested in. First, the little things. Jesus said if we are faithful in the little things we would be faithful in the bigger things. Sometimes people skimp on the little things or they don’t even fool with the little things because they say, “It’s no big deal.” That’s a huge indicator how a person will handle bigger things. We must care about small things that are seemingly insignificant. Second, we must prove our faithfulness with finances. Jesus makes an incredible statement in verse 11. He says that how you handle money is an indication of how you will handle spiritual things (true riches). What is the correlation? Jesus said in Luke 12:34 – “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Finances tell us the condition of our hearts. If our heart is in the right place, we will be givers and we will be generous. We cannot allow money to grip us or control us. Make sure your relationship to money is healthy. You will prove yourself to be a candidate to handle the things of God. Third, we must be faithful with the things that do not belong to us. According to Jesus, this is a prerequisite for obtaining our own. That works whether in business or ministry. You must prove your faithfulness in either if you are going to have your own someday.
What can you be faithful in today? It will set you up for success tomorrow.
