Psalm 103:10-12 “He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor punished us according to our iniquities. 11 For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; 12 As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.”
This Psalm opens up in verse 2 by saying, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits…”
This devotional cannot possible exhaust His benefits but I would strongly encourage you to read them beginning in verse 3.
One of the benefits in our text above centers around forgiveness of our sins. The first thing we are told is that God “has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor punished us according to our iniquities.” Whew! Aren’t you glad of that? So this does not tell us what He does for us, but what He doesn’t do. The following verse, verse 11, tells us that we will never be able to comprehend it because His mercy is as high as the heavens are above the earth. I don’t get it, never will…but I am SO grateful!
Finally, God is so thorough in His forgiveness that He removes our transgressions from us as far as the east is from the west. Again, I can’t wrap my head around that one either…but I am SO glad he did! So quit beating yourself up over your sin. Repent of it sincerely and let God hurl it into oblivion!
