Galatians 1:13 – “For you have heard of my former conduct in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God beyond measure and tried to destroy it.”
One of the miracles of all miracles is a transformed life. Some people do things just because it is stupid. Others do things because it really is in their heart to do it. The gospel of Jesus Christ penetrates the heart, or as the writer of the book of Hebrews puts it, “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12) And it’s from there that real transformation takes place.
Paul refers to his “former conduct.” He was a terror when it came to persecuting the church. How about you? What was your former conduct? Has there been a real transformation in your life? Is it noticeable? Are there indicators of a change in behavior? This is what gives the message of the cross validity and inspiration for others. If your life can be changed, then theirs can too. Have you ever made a statement similar to this, “If God can change ____________, He can change anyone?”
Reflect on your life prior to transformation. First of all, give thanks and praise God. Secondly, let it be known. Not only will you be encouraged, someone else’s life may be transformed too!
