August 19 – Kingdom Time

Esther‬ ‭4‬:‭13‬,14 –And Mordecai told them to answer Esther: “Do not think in your heart that you will escape in the king’s palace any more than all the other Jews. For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?””

The lives of God’s people are in jeopardy. The spirit that has tried to annihilate the Jews from Pharaoh to Hitler is active through Haman, a noble in the kingdom of Xerxes. Haman’s reason is incited by Mordecai, a relative of Esther who raised her as his own daughter when her parents died. Mordecai refuses to bow before Haman who is a man filled with pride (5:10-12). Haman becomes so infuriated with Mordecai that he begins to enact a plan with the help of those closest to him to not only kill Mordecai, but also destroy all the Jews. With certain death looming, Mordecai issues the challenge to Esther in our text. His faith is amazing as it shines in his darkest hour. He is convinced that deliverance will come to the Jews. But he senses that it is within Esther’s destiny to be God’s hand of deliverance. He poses the question that has become iconic throughout the ages to the people of God: “…who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” It is at this moment that Esther is asked to put it all on the line. She risks everything by presenting herself to the king to intercede for her people. God miraculously intervened through several events and the Jews were spared.

A time may arise in your life where your destiny is meant to shine. Don’t hold back and do not fear. You have been created for kingdom purposes.

God has been preparing you all along. You haven’t faced the trials and experienced life’s challenges in vain. God has a purpose and a destiny for you to fulfill. “Who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
