Psalm 34:15 – “The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry.”
Today’s Psalm highlights God’s dealing with the righteous. The Bible makes it clear that God loves all people, but He shows favor to the righteous. This verse tells us that God’s eyes are on the righteous. He watches them closely. They are always under His gaze. This suggests not only favor, but also protection and blessing. This verse also tells us that His ears are open to the cry of the righteous. Another translation says that His ears are attentive to the cry of the righteous. Being attentive takes it a step further and tells us that God is waiting eagerly to hear our prayers. How awesome is that!
The Psalm goes on and mentions several other characteristics of the righteous. Verse 17 says, “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles.” I want you to hear this promise today. If you and I will live a righteous life before God, there is no trouble that can contain us. When we cry out to God, He delivers! There is another verse in the Psalm that is a companion to the one just read. Verse 19 says, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” I love that verse! We may have our times, our trials, and our challenges, but we serve a God who will deliver us from every one of them!
