Romans 8:28 – “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
Today’s One Year Bible reading in the book of Romans is some of the most powerful teaching in the New Testament. In verses 26 and 27 of chapter 8 we are told three things the Holy Spirit will do for us:
1. “…the Spirit helps us in our weakness…” Feeling weak? Need help? You need the Holy Spirit. He will strengthen you and give you the assistance you need to make it through whatever you’re facing right now.
2. “…the Spirit Himself intercedes for us…” Need prayer? Many times we look for others to pray for us or we want our need to be on a prayer chain. I believe in that and it’s important to have people praying for you. But to know the Holy Spirit is praying for us!!! That’s another level.
3. “…He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God…” The Spirit of God is always on target because He is praying for us according to the will of God.
Then comes our text. You have purpose. And when you live in your purpose and you love God, He will cause all things (did you get that? ALL THINGS) to work for you. Even the negative things can be turned around to benefit you. By the way, the phrase “work together” is our English word “synergy.”
