1 Kings 18:1 – “And it came to pass after many days that the word of the Lord came to Elijah, in the third year, saying, “Go, present yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the earth.””
Would the rain have come in Elijah had not presented himself to Ahab? God has instructed Elijah to confront Ahab and it appears that a rainstorm would not come unless the meeting took place.
This is consistent with God’s word. Typically, one step of obedience is a key to something else unfolding. Rain represents God’s blessing. Blessing is contingent upon obedience. Elijah would have to face his enemy, and possible death, in order for blessing to come.
Is there something we are avoiding, something unpleasant, that may be the key to God’s blessing in our lives? Let us “present ourselves” that God may do everything He intends to our behalf to bless us!
