June 9 – A Big “If”

1 Kings 6:11-13 — Then the word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying: “Concerning this temple which you are building, if you walk in My statutes, execute My judgments, keep all My commandments, and walk in them, then I will perform My word with you, which I spoke to your father David. And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake My people

What a great promise from the Word of God! While there is an exact promise given to Solomon, there is a principle in the promise that you and I can learn from and apply to our lives today. If Solomon will walk in God’s statutes, execute His judgements, keep all His commandments, and walk in them, Solomon’s obedience will release God’s word to come to pass in his life. Get ahold of that principle! If you walk in God’s ways, not your own ways, and be obedient to His word, then God is able to do what He promised. Our blessing is contingent upon our obedience. It really is up to us.

The phrase “then I will perform My word with you” literally means “then I will perform My word through you.” That’s why the obedience is so important. What God is going to do will be done through you. You will be part of the process and the vehicle through which the blessing and promise of God flows.

We must make sure that there is nothing in our lives hindering God from accomplishing His promise and His word. Let’s make sure that our lives are clean and that God is honored and glorified so that His word concerning us will come to pass.
