May 29 – God’s Direction

Proverbs 16:9 – A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.”

The book of Proverbs gives us advice when making plans. It tells us not to make them in a vacuum; that we should involve others if we want our plans to succeed (Proverbs 15:22). We are also told to commit our works to the Lord and then our plans will be established (Proverbs 16:3).

Today’s Proverb let’s us know that we can plan all we want to, and we should, but the direction of the Lord is over it all. This has helped me many times in life when I am trying to make a right decision. When I am unsure what to do, my confidence is in this verse. I may make a decision that will ultimately prevail and steer things in the path He desires. We are instructed by the Lord Jesus to pray, “…Your kingdom come, Your will be done in earth as it is in heaven.” If we are praying this prayer and living a submitted life then there is no need to fear the decisions you have to make. Go ahead and make them but let everything be submitted to the Lord’s direction.‭‭
