John 7:28,29 – “Then Jesus cried out. as He taught in the temple, saying. ‘You both know Me, and you know where I am from; and I have not come of myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know. But I know Him, for I am from Him, and He sent me.'”
Jesus was always purposeful and mission-oriented. He referred to Himself regularly as One who was “sent”.
Today I want to encourage you to live your life with these three objectives in mind: Be purposeful, be mission-oriented, and know that you are sent. Know and understand today that God has created you for a purpose and you are here on this earth to fulfill that purpose. God’s purpose for your life is intertwined with the purpose Jesus came. He came, according to scripture with three divine purposes that we should incorporate into our lives: 1) He came to seek and to save the lost (Luke 19:10). Today, who around you seems lost? Who around you acts like they’re searching for something? Those are individuals you’ve been sent to. They need Him. They need to find their way. They need to find their purpose. Reach them. 2) He came to minister to others (Matthew 20:18). Today is not about you. It is about those in need around you. Who needs to be ministered to today? Who needs to be encouraged? Who needs to be loved? Who needs heaven’s touch? Minister to them. 3) He came to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8). There is evidence of much evil in our society. The enemy has been at work. Who around you needs to be set free of torment? Who hasn’t slept well because of anxiety? Who is depressed, dejected, and demoralized? Deliver them.
When you think about all of this, no wonder Jesus said, “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work” (John 9:4). There is much to do, many people to help, and little time to do it in. Reach them, minister to them, and deliver them. They need Him.
