1 Samuel 1:4-7 “And whenever the time came for Elkanah to make an offering, he would give portions to Peninnah his wife and to all her sons and daughters. But to Hannah he would give a double portion, for he loved Hannah, although the Lord had closed her womb. And her rival also provoked her severely, to make her miserable, because the Lord had closed her womb. So it was, year by year, when she went up to the house of the Lord, that she provoked her; therefore she wept and did not eat.”
Hannah was blessed but barren. Have you ever been there? God has been good to you but there is something more, you know it, and it keeps eating at you. You cannot be satisfied until you obtain that for which your soul hungers.
Every year when she went up to the house of the Lord to worship, her “rival” provoked her. Whatever you do, don’t let the enemy steal your worship! He will do everything in his power to ruin your worship. He will try to make you miserable on your way to the house of the Lord. Something didn’t go right that morning or you had an argument on your way. Recognize his plan to destroy your worship and refuse to give in.
Hannah would not allow her situation to stop her. She continually went up year after year to the house of the Lord barren. But this time would be her last time. Dear friend, don’t give up on what you hunger and thirst for on the inside. You may have gone to prayer about it time and time again. Go one more time. Press in. Keep the faith. Fight the battle. Victory is just ahead!
